• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Should I start loading up on those supplies for the restaurants?
I have seen some force majeure letters go out today due to the pvc film wrap market. Berry Plastics has announced major cuts and they are allocating very little for the foreseeable future. Anchor Packaging has already put their products on allocation. If you use a lot of film wrap get what you can. Foil is going to continue to go up. Hell, Pactiv just announced a 20% increase on everything they sell effective 11/1.

Friend of mine called yesterday. He lives in Cimarron county Oklahoma. The federal government called the city council yesterda and informed them they’d be receiving 5,000 Haitians.

The total population of the county is around 2,000. They have no ability to house that many. This is criminal and it’s going to get ugly there if this occurs.
I'd load up every school bus I could find and drive those fine immigrants to California... the land of freedom and opportunity. No need to waste those peoples time in a red state.

I recall the Florida parents who sent their kids masks to a lab and it came back with pneumonia, tuberculosis, several pathogenic fungi and 5-10 other microbes---but not Wuhan.

But, hey. All the people breathing in all these different microbes are developing antibodies to them if they avoid getting sick or dying.

Got a link for this? I'd be curious to see the actual lab results. My guess is most of the things they found were normal microbial flora, but calling them stuff like pathogenic fungi and pneumonia sound more scary.

How much do hospitals and other medical entities get paid for a flu diagnosis v a Wuhan diagnosis?

BiNgO, big pharma money bribery at top levels to inflate numbers and scare people in my opinion.

Apologies for beating a dead horse, but how does that explain all the negative flu tests? It isn't like we are seeing a ton of positive flu tests, but the management is fudging the numbers when they report them. The flu really did seem to vanish last winter. No one lied about that for bribes or to fear monger, it actually happened.

My thought is that masking/social distancing while questionable in efficacy for COVID, actually did reduce influenza (for which it was originally designed to help prevent).

Please keep in mind, I feel like influenza is a decent benchmark to NOT mask or social distance. I absolutely do not feel this is an excuse to mask up permanently, especially since society has already deemed influenza an acceptable risk.

Interesting neighbor...

My truck driver neighbor is anal about yard work. He mows, edges, etc., 2-3 times a week. He even mows the street to chop up leaves and stuff. Since moving in, if he sees a lawn which hasn't been mowed in what he feels is enough time, he takes his mower and mows their yards. One person told him to stay off his lawn.

He called yesterday wanting to know if I was OK (recovering from surgery) since I hadn't mowed and edged in 1-2 weeks (the grass hasn't grown much with little rain and watering). I am fine but haven't felt the need to mow or edge. I will today or tomorrow.

Anyway, he's out again today and just edged my lawn and blew off all the sidewalks. I don't care other than I like doing my own yard work but am not nearly as anal as he is.
I would find that insulting. He’s saying you’re not doing good enough so he mows it for you. It puts pressure on you. What a weirdo.

Concrete is apparently like gold now too. Dad was supposed to pour a floor in his new shop this week and dude said it could be 2 weeks.

I'm heavily involved in construction and everyday is a moving target. Trusses for a home are between 36-40 weeks right now. Getting surveys from a company that can see a job through from front to back is 4-5 months. It goes on and on...

I feel like it did help, but I can't get behind that making the flu cases go all the way to zero....which is essentially what happened, as the number of positives being as low as they were, something like 1800, they were likely all false positives. Like I keep saying, just very odd.
