• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

It's been bullshit for a long time. Not sure where to go but I will be on the western front if/when it kicks off.. I have been ramping up on necessities ( food, fuel, fire) and I would suggest you all do the same. Not sure where this goes but I do not see bottom yet and no cavalry bugles are sounding. Looks pretty fucking dark out. SKOL!

Yeah I definitely don’t see Puddin’s new EO being the thing that sets large groups of people off.

Folks will either get the jab or move on from those places and the world will keep spinning.

We might get lucky with enough people leaving that it hurts the economy and Puddin gets some blowback for that.

The longer the pandemic last the more it hurts him.

It'd be nice if a bunch of govt workers quit and shrunk to govt.

I’m sure some will based on the law of averages but they’ll fill them again and move on.

We need a state to pass an anti vax law (Ohio is holding hearings on a bill to do this next week), pass the law, then sue Puddin over his EO if the government tries to enforce the EO.

That or maybe an employee of a contractor will sue on religious grounds and the SCOTUS will pause it for government contractors.

I’m really confused why a state like Tejas, Florida, or SC hasn’t a passed similar law already regarding the COVID jab. I’d guess it’s the tired GOP talking point of “private business can do what it sees fit”.

I’ll be curious to see how quickly Puddin tries to put the EO into effect. You’d think they would need to provide a month or two so contractors have time to meet the order without fucking everything up but like @GatorOK said I wouldn’t be surprised if they just didn’t think it thru.

For govt contractors it is going to come down to the supply chain. There are a lot of small mom and pops that supply to large defense companies. The govt already knows it is hard enough to get these companies to do business with the govt in the first place and now they are shooting themselves in the foot by placing a vax burden on them.

The govt wants to do business with small business and this is going to drive them away.

100%true for a decade i wouldn't deliver to the base. If they wanted it they had to come get it.(especially after 9.11) for the past decade or so I started delivering to them. Our shops have done many top secret jobs or project X. We are a preferred supplier now. Itll be really interesting to see how this plays out/enforced. They need me more than I need them

These idiots never think of the consequences part - meaning what will happen if people do not comply. Granted, I have not read anything about these new "guidelines", but when my kid's school said that masks were required, I asked what the punishment would be, and no one knew. So we just did not put a masks on him and sent him to school. That was weeks ago and I have not even had a call home yet. They are all sheep trying to carry out orders. Problem with a sheep that carries out orders is they have no balls to both follow and enforce orders.

The huge elephant in the room. Put the ball in their court and see how enthusiastic they are

That's my strategy with the Navy and vaccines. Filing for a religious exemption and seeing what they are willing to do

At the very least, the more military members that force their hand the more they have to show themselves to the public

Hopefully, even in the worst case scenario, some allies on our side will realize the military isn't to be trusted

There is a reason that only 7% of US companies do business with the Federal Govt...they make it too hard to do business with them, so small business moves along.....not to mention google and their we don't want to help the govt kill people it makes us feel bad stance.

In the late 90's I did a lot of business with a defense contractor who was under DOD and DOE. Impossible to work with as each department had separate mandates and requirements. They dealt with nuclear power for submarines. One agency wanted everything recycled. The other wanted diversity and small business products. I was with a fortune 110 at the time, so small business went out the window. A percentage of all their purchases had to be under those requirements. There was no way when you are building and designing nuclear power plants that green and small businesses can provide much or your supplies.

Worked with the procurement folks and perhaps stretched what was recycled and what we sourced from small and diversity suppliers and it worked for a while. Finally got to the point though where they were told not to use a National supplier. My contact said they ended up paying about 60% more, for crappy products.

And that was not counting what we were still selling off contract, at a much greater margin since I was no longer bound to pricing.

Government is fvcked up

I work in a rather enigmatic segment of the military but I'm not sure I'd call it a fighting force

It really is a ridiculous culture and in many ways worse than the mainstream. Imo, it is a force built to lose the next war
Hell, do we even have the equipment left to go to war? Drove past Ft Riley in Kansas on my way to see grandkids in KC and not a single helicopter parked on the airfield. Usually there are dozens of Blackhawks and Chinooks. No Humvees or other military vehicles parked on the grounds.
