Passive RFID for sure. Only holds same data as a barcode. Data is read by a RFID reader that also transmits power. Short range. Like under 10‘.
They are more and more common. I am sure you all have heard of Amazon creating checkout free grocery stores, All items in the stores have a RFID tag in the packaging. Thus it can automatically inventory the contents of your cart and charge you accordingly.
Most items already contain passive RFID. Primarily it is used for inventory control and is requested from their vendors by Walmart, Target, Amazon, etc.
The larger removable plastic theft prevention devices are Active RFID. They are larger because they include a battery and are constantly transmitting.
I am not worried about passive RFID devices. Your phone actively transmits more data about your location, likes, etc.
