Are there any good reasons Biden shouldn’t forgive ALL federal student debt?

Let’s see if there are any thinkers on this board or if it’s just rubes.

Legitimate answers only. No pearl clutching about the national debt or handwringing by the privileged about how they paid off their loans.

And the fine print by those dotted lines say the loans can be forgiven.

Why would we try to force our elected leaders to stop offering to help people in certain ways? People are entitled to elect representatives to carry out their will which would include debt forgiveness.
They may say that, but going to need proof of that. Good luck finding that and posting it.

And it’s not help. Loan forgiveness is more of a want by the minority of the population. It’s not a need for help.

Once again, the parents and student knew exactly what they were getting when they applied for a loan. They can either pay it off like the majority does or declare bankruptcy. Their piss poor decisions should not get helped by the politicians who only want to get elected by making false claims.

You got that higher education that you felt was absolutely necessary when you signed for that loan. Hell, a lot of folks didn’t get the “privilege” as you call it, to get a higher education. Put your damn privilege to work and pay the damn loan back. There seems to be no shortage of jobs these days. Hopefully that “privileged” education made you extremely smart and valuable to someone...but it’s up to you at that point.

Congress has the right to tax while also enjoying the right to employer the Chief Executive or other agencies to spend.

Taxation is a basic part of any organized society. Let not go all anarchistic and suggest we shouldn’t be taxing and spending for the good of society.

We should make college more accessible but that doesn’t mean we have to forgo forgiving federal student loans to do it.

No one advocated that we not tax and spend. There is a place for government and that is to provide a framework, not micromanage and pick winners and losers. Forgiving debt for some and not others.

The best and most equitable way to help bring down the cost of a college education is to create more competition.

Joe Biden ran on forgiving student loans because he knew it mattered to millions of Americans. There is nothing stopping a Republican from running on a platform that would forgive student loans.

Here is the section of of law where Congress authorizes the Secretary of Education to forgive student loans:

It’s not a debatable point since Biden has already started forgiving student loans for thousands of other borrowers.

No the best and most equitable way to bring down the cost of education for students would be to enact an automatic payroll tax on those individuals not properly vaccinating themselves or their children to create a general fund.

It could be easily designed and enacted like the individual mandate was in The Affordable Care Act before Dear Leader decided to try to attack American’s healthcare.

I would estimate at least 50% of people that waste time and money in college could have their needs better met by a trade school that would give them a promising career. I've thought about going back for my doctorate in district leadership (education), and the price tag makes me cringe for what I get in return.

False. That’s not the dotted line the borrower signs with the lender. The Secretary of Education can technically forgive loans, but there usually has to be a reason behind. And those reasons are not because Biden said so.

Usually death, disability, and public service (military) are the reasons why. Lenders have clauses like this to help with their borrowers, but without meeting those clauses, good luck getting it forgiven.

Forgiving billions of dollars will have big repercussions, and no administration will want to answer for those repercussions. Someone will have to foot the bill of paying off of those debts.

I’ve always advocated that people that do not want to pay off their student loans should be forced into indentured servitude for a minimum of 5 years serving those that have paid off their student loans or run a successful business. In addition to a free education, they’re also receiving real-life education that most would agree is far, far more valuable.

LOL "give me a good answer, but don't use any logic or reason".
I wish I could find logical or reasonable responses from you rubes.

Simply acknowledging their own privilege in resolving their loans doesn’t make the underprivileged any less deserving of forgiveness.

It’s actually pretty sick to suggest the underprivileged should have it more difficult just because the privileged have the reality of privilege.
People looking for an easy way out of their responsibilities and laying them, any way that they can think of, on the backs of other responsible people are a detriment to society and should be treated as such.
This is why I suggested the unvaccinated begin to foot the bill and be less of a drag on society, our healthcare system, our insurance premiums, ect.

Why do we have to have a logical and reasonable response when you willfully entered and agreed to terms that you promised to pay back? You make it make sense to us, and don't say because it's hard. Of course it is.

Edit: I don't believe education is a right. You have to earn that. And if you thought by paying thousand for it then thats your cost of education. What did you major in?

I think the real question should be:

Are there any good reasons why Biden should forgive any debts.

It's not the government's place to do this, and it adds a huge load to the taxpayers in general, specifically those that pay the most, and that aren't benefitting in any way from this giveaway. There are already tons and tons of scholarships and grants available for low income families and minorities to go to college virtually debt free. So unless we're trying to go full socialist, what reasoning would there be to do this, other than trying to get young voters to vote for you? While we're at it, lets just give everyone a million dollars? After all, no one will end up having to pay for it, right?

Anybody that is a part of society would benefit from the forgiveness. Surely we wouldn’t want our healthcare workers or our children's teachers performing at suboptimal levels due to the stress associated with be underprivileged and having student loan debt.

If politicians shouldn’t run on forgiving student loans then they shouldn’t run on being able to institute tax cuts either.

It sounds ridiculous because it is.

They entered an agreement with the terms saying it could be forgiven.

I suppose you don’t have to give a logical or reasonable response but if that’s the case then nobody should be upset or complain about the forgiveness if it happens.

The reason is on you. You still haven't said, only "because you want it to be". To "it could be forgiven" yeah when you pay it back. It "could not be forgiven" when you default and go to collections. Get more specific as will I.

That's far from true. It would negatively affect most people, especially those that are past college age, or that aren't planning to go to college. All you're doing is spreading out the cost of everyone's college costs to the rest of the country. So basically, there's no accountability for choosing a crappy career, or making poor decisions.

Or maybe, instead of forgiving it, they should figure out a way for colleges to reduce the costs. Why is it that it costs 4-5 times as much to attend a college now than it did 20 years ago? Are the teachers being paid that much more? Nope. They already have the property, buildings, etc, so there's absolutely no reason for it.

Plus, in the event that this ever happened, the cost of schooling would skyrocket, because they would know that the gov't would just cut them a check for it anyways. Either that, or the schools would end up getting screwed by all of the people defaulting, so they would go bankrupt.

It's just a bad idea Rube, any way you slice it.

Seriously. Why are we entertaining this troll? It's either one of our own esteemed founders being silly or an absolute fucking tard that needs ignored to go away. Imagine believing in your head n heart that paying your obligations by working hard is privilege.

Oh there already is debt forgiveness and free college too. Enlist in the service you pussy.

The national budget is a constitutional thing, there is no provision for American Tax Payers to pay the private or personal debt of another individual. It would be struck down if sent to the high court. A President has no authority to do such silly things. Congress writes the laws but they still have to follow the constitutional instructions and once again I say there is no provision to use money that has not been legally allocated each year to run the business of the United States for one persons political bullshit.

The inflation we’re experiencing is a result of supply shortages due to the private sector being unable to respond the strong economic rebound Joe has produced in response to the Covid-19 recession.

Serious answers only from now on.
I wasn't completely sure that you were trolling, but this removes all doubt. Even Jim doesn't believe this diarrhea.

blah blah equality blah blah fairness blah blah rubes blah blah Dear Leader
Once tuition is covered by the feds, everyone will get on board, and it will become another federal bureau. Then the feds will start folding in requirements to qualify for the $. Fairness would dictate that football teams could only be 30% black and 50% males. Engineering degrees will be granted to lesser performing students based upon race and gender. A math-smart Asian kid will only be allowed to pursue a degree in liberal arts.

And the “ privileged “ will form their own private schools. The private sector will value these graduates as being better qualified for private sector careers, and the complaining by the socialists will continue, blaming the other side of the aisle for encouraging inequality.

We certainly wouldn’t allow privileged private schools like this.

As the criminal Bannon would say “we’ll kill them in the crib”.
