• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Would you rather eat a wooden pencil or eat a paperback novel?

ell, let me tell you, both the wooden pencil and the paperback novel have their pros and cons when it comes to being a meal.

On one hand, the wooden pencil has a nice, woodsy flavor that some people might enjoy. Plus, it's a good source of fiber and can help clean out your digestive system. However, it can also be quite tough and difficult to chew, and if you accidentally swallow the eraser, it could cause some serious stomach issues.

On the other hand, the paperback novel is a more flavorful option. It's filled with all sorts of interesting characters and plot twists, so you'll never get bored while you're eating it. Plus, it's high in literary protein, which can help boost your brain power. However, it's also quite dense and can be hard to digest, and if you're not careful, you might accidentally swallow a page and end up with a book-induced case of indigestion.

Overall, I'd say it depends on what you're looking for in a meal. If you want something that's tasty and nourishing, go for the paperback novel. But if you're looking for something to help you with a little digestive maintenance, the wooden pencil might be the way to go. Just make sure to chew carefully and avoid swallowing any erasers
