Better off if you can come up with an agreement, I was able to get 50/50 with no child support but our court case was fucked our judge got booted out of office after a year of court dates and neither of us could afford it anymore. Get a good lawyer and plan on spending a truck ton of money for a contested divorce.

We swapped every sunday and alternated christmas/Thanksgiving and I paid for day care/private school. But never EVER cut a single check for Child support. Only way to get sole custody is to prove she is a horrible parent and it takes a lot. Nothing she did in the relationship with you will help that cause only how she treats the kids.

Generally if a couple has made an amicable divorce agreement the judge will sign off on it.

I got 50/50 with no child support, as well. You need to show up to court with proof you are an engaged father (pay for, and participate in, children's activities, support them academically, have a solid place for them to live). It also helped that I purchased the program the state of Kansas uses to decide child support. It was a shocker for my ex's attorney. I'm sure he usually goes up against a bunch of unprepared rubes.

It helps if she is a drug addicted raving loon. At least that helped in my situation. I got what is essentially full custody. This was 14 years ago or so. She has gotten better, so the kids have spent more time with her as things have gone on.

Its ugly, expensive and exhausting. Does your wife put your kids in danger or do you just not like her?

The best way out will be to make an agreement. Not what you want to hear, but its the truth.

My cousin is in a custody battle now. Right now the mom has supervised visitation because she is beyond crazy. He's been stuck in battle for a few years at this point. It looks like he will get custody just because there was so much evidence against the mom. Kinda of surprising given Alabama favors the mom more in court.

Takes a shit load against the mom to get full custody. To get 50/50 you have to prove the ability to work together for the child. Not an easy thing to do especially with a bad divorce. You have to learn to not sweat the little things and keep conversations just to the child.

Spent 17 years doing this and it was a struggle at times. Ex was from upstate NY and was a complete bitch but we managed to keep it civil. Just tried to keep in-person interactions to under 15 minutes whenever possible and mostly just text communication. Good luck OP

This is it. Unless you have a piece of Trash Single Moms Club ex. 50/50 (I had custody bc shes trash) but I had to pay support bc shes again trash without a job

What about the mom alienating the father from the children? Phone and FaceTime mess, not calling, fear mongering, manipulation towards the children…reckless driving with social media and the kids in the car?

I have a male friend who got custody of his son since he had a very good job and she was unemployed during the divorce proceedings. Eventually she got remarried and employed and had to start making child support payments to him.

Opiates in her system when they given her drug tests, slitting her wrist in a walmart parking lot, cutting her wrist at a hospital due to the hospital not wanting to take her in, trying to drive off with the kid while drunk, to name a few

I was all for it and coping with the situation to raise my kids to be shielded from her and her dogshit family but….whores gonna whore and it’s not her first divorce.
It’s a fvcking mess and she is a trailerpark whitetrash POS doing TPWTPOS things….surrounded and enabled by her TPWTPOS family that managed to get some money to their name.

I agree….I would have kept the situation and was doing what I needed to do to keep the situation manageable but this one is a sociopath in total denial and all her shitbag ways.
