What’s the deal with Ohtani’s gambling addiction?

Allegedly, Ohtani wasn't betting on anything. It was his interpreter betting, and Ohtani says he didn't know anything about it. It's pretty wild, but Ohtani's team is saying that due to the language barrier, his interpreter was telling him one thing in Japanese, but saying something else in English, or basically lying to him. Who knows at this point what the truth is.

Is it true that he was betting against Kirby and that is where all the losses piled up?

Yeah. Let the slave hold the bag then kick his daughter in to the volcano

It's my understanding there was no gambling on baseball so it's a non-factor.
If that's the case, I think it should be able to be easily proven. At that point, the MLB itself will probably not punish Ohtani too much, if at all.

If there was betting on baseball, then they'll need to do the deep dive to find out who the bets were on behalf of. There would likely be some suspension for Ohtani, even if he didn't to the betting, just because he's associated with it so closely, but it wouldn't be major.
