Trailer / RV question & discussion

Hey all. I've got a 29' pull behind trailer that I pull with my F250 diesel without any issues, but as anyone that has a trailer knows, it's not always easy to find an accessible gas station when you want to fill up. I have a diesel engine on my truck, which further limits the gas station choices. Out west, there are some drives and remote destinations where there won't be gas stations for quite a while, which leads me to my question.

On road trips, do any of you haul a portable gas tank with you, to fill up in a more convenient and easy way? Or even just to have with you in case of emergency? There's a lake that I love up in Utah, but there aren't any diesel gas stations within 60 miles of it, which means 120 miles minimum of driving without any options. If I've already stopped once to fill up, it's a pain sometimes to stop again if I don't need to.

I typically estimate that I will get around 250 miles when towing the trailer, which, in most cases is fine, but if you get to a place where you were running low, or just didn't want to deal with the hassle of getting in and out of a busy gas station while pulling a trailer, I'm thinking of buying something like one of these. What do you think? Worth it? Or just a pain in the butt to deal with?
58 Tank portable pump
25 gallon portable pump

Thanks in advance

Have a Red rolling gas caddy (similar to your second), that we use for the boat. Basically we run into the same issue we the boat (no fitting into spot, BUT prices on lake a ridiculous.)

They work great and will help out for sure.

The mlre fuelvweight the less then milage per pull. But id say 4) 5 gallon jugs and a moped just in case.
I have a2010 outback I lived in after the fire. I wont sell it but i have nk need for it.
Yeah, but I'm already pulling 7-8,000 pounds +/- so an additional few hundred pounds won't make much difference.

Edit to add that those 5 gallon jugs are a bit of a pain in the butt sometimes. I could definitely go that route, but was thinking if I had a tank in the truck bed that had a hose long enough to pump directly into the tank, that would be ideal.

Definitely go this way. All you gotta do is hook the cables to your truck battery and you'll get several refuels off 1 tank full. Every spring and fall we throw it back in the truck for tractor refills.

No issues with leaking or anything? What size do you have?

There's your answer, OP.
