One of the most destructive mindsets of our culture is, "You're perfect the way you are." This ideology fosters laziness and causes a stagnation within the self that results in mental, spiritual, and physical degradation.

So what is one thing about yourself that you want to improve upon?

For me, I am working to become more articulate in my speech. I do fine most of the time, but if I ever become internally flustered, I revert back to my old mumbly ways.
There are a number of other things I am working to improve, but forget about me. I want to hear from you.

Anything (including your body, mind, relationships, home, lawn, personal environment), if left alone, will degrade. The nature of reality is entropy and chaos. It is only our continued effort that allows us to maintain. And it is a strenuous and noble effort that leads to the transformation of self-improvement.

Why should we improve ourselves rather than just maintaining? Well, are you living the life you want to be living? No? What are your obstacles? If you're honest with yourself - as honest as you can be - how many of those obstacles are self-imposed? How many would dissolve away if you were to only improve yourself or your station in life? If you are not the person you want to be, what can you do to become that person?

Okay, so you can improve yourself and live a better life. If it's that easy, why doesn't everybody do it?

Well, because it's not easy. Its hard. Sometimes it's downright punishment. But, life is hard no matter what you do, you might as well make it hard with a purpose.

It's hard to get in shape, and it's hard being out of shape. Choose your hard.
It's hard to improve your education, and it's hard to go through life undereducated. Choose your hard.
It's hard to confront your own inner flaws and habits, and it's hard to ignore those habits as they slowly sabotage or kill you. Choose your hard.
It's hard to be confrontational, and it's hard to let someone walk all over you. Choose your hard.
It's hard to make peace with that loved one, and it's hard to lose them forever because of your stubborn pride. Choose your hard.

The dirty truth of it is, self-improvement is hard right now while the consequences of not improving are hard later. It's repackaged procrastination - kicking the proverbial can down the road.

Don't lie to yourself. Stare the truth right in the face.

Take responsibility and change your life!

“You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. You get to choose which poison you're going to take. That's it.”

Great post.

Imo Juden B.Petersburg seems to hijack a lot of material from others, like Rudolph Steiner.
Works very well to disguise JP's cunning mindfuckery considering hardly any would be aware of the 100+ yo original publications.

Eg: 😄JP's quote above is not what it seems.
Is it referring to self-responsibilities & accountabilities?—it appears to be aye?—or is there more going on?—see anything odd?

Oh he definitely repeats a lot of the things he has read/studied. He references Jungian psychology constantly. I don't think many of us are innocent of doing the very same thing. We repeat what we learn and find useful.

I think the biggest thing we could all do to improve ourselves is being more well read then making sure to only spread and support legitimate sources and information.

People that spread conspiracy theories are just as damaging to society as criminals. Part of the social contact we have with each other and government is that we are trying to make the union more perfect and not intentionally tear it apart.

Why does everyone think I’m Jake? 😂

To the point though, the video doesn’t show anything gay. Having friends is pretty normal (not that you would know).
Having friends is normal, having friends you Peter puff on, is pretty gay Jake. For a dude that “Stan’s” for some fag, you sure don’t want to be him huh? If I was a benedick sucking traitor to the principals my country was founded on I’d be ashamed too.

I’m in NY if your dad wants fucked. Fag.

What does Benedict sucking traitor Trump have to do with Jake? You’re right that I am embarrassed that I ever voted for him.

I think it’s funny that people believe that someone who gets millions of impressions on YouTube would waste their time here. Jake is world renown, not some slap dick that types a fake Asian accent or fucks Colombian prostitutes like folks here.

These threads take on a life of their own, don't they?

There are two things I have come up short on that I want to really improve. Over the years I have tended to procrastinate. There are all the could've, would've, should've scenarios you can imagine.

The other area that needs improvement is learning how not to argue with idiots. It's hard not responding to people that use the Internet solely for entertainment and amusement. These boards have so much potential when it comes to discussion and sharing information (as opposed to memes and rehashing the same talking points from the controlled news and entertainment outlets.) It's just a matter of reaching that small percentage that want to reverse course in America and reclaim what we lost.

Nice, man. Procrastination is one of the ones I'm still working on as well. One of the things that has really helped me is the realization that any value that I believe pleasure/comfort has is fully assigned by me. When you act mindfully, there is not much difference in value between doing the dishes or sitting on the couch, other than what we assign to it ourselves. This helped me a lot when it came to procrastination. That being said, I still have to remind myself and seek after that mindset often to keep from slipping back into the procrastination pit.

As for learning not to argue... That's one that I actually have the opposite problem with. I naturally tend toward a mediator/agreeable type of personality. So I don't naturally gravitate toward argument, but I have had to put effort into finding comfort with being confrontational and argumentative when it matters. Martial arts have helped me a ton with this over the years. In my teens and early 20s, I would quietly bear things that I would absolutely not put up with these days.

What steps do you feel like you could take to work toward these improvements?

I had to reply quickly yesterday because I got called away. But, I didn't want you to think I was ignoring this portion of your response.

“You're going to pay a price for every bloody thing you do and everything you don't do. You don't get to choose to not pay a price. You get to choose which poison you're going to take. That's it.”

The thing that comes first to mind is of course what I mentioned above, that there is a cost for everything. Karma would be another way to say this. Or from a Biblical perspective, "You reap what you sow," but what I like about the above quote is that it implies inaction as a type of sowing of its own. This "sin" of inactivity is explored in Jesus's parable of the talents. Two people went out and did something with the money they were given, and regardless of how successful they were, they were pleasing to the master, but it was only the one who buried the money and did nothing with it that was called "wicked".

That being said, I think great writing/ideas have layers of meaning imbedded within them. I would love to hear your interpretation/meaning of the idea behind JP's quote. Especially if you can elaborate on the perspective of Steiner. I'm not very familiar with him.

14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

15 And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

16 Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

17 And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

18 But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord's money.

19 After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

20 And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

22 He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

23 His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

24 Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

25 And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

26 His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

27 Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

28 Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

29 For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

30 And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

With procrastination I am writing down all the things I want to accomplish over the course of the day and then the week. If I succeed, a reward might be splurging and eating at a nice restaurant at the end of the week. If it rolls around to the end of the week, cut out some of the time spent playing on the computer / watching videos.

Early in playing on the computer, I encountered my first troll. He taught me some lessons and I've reserved my distaste for him until a later time. I used to argue with the idiot, but then watched him rack up 650 + posts arguing with another poster and it dawned on me how much time was wasted just so that guy could be entertained.

Since I've started carrying, I'm less motivated to get into brawls as previously; however, a while back I was attacked by a guy in my own home. I was about twice his age and he had a weight and height advantage over me that was hard to overcome. In the end, I broke his wrist in two places and shattered his arm. But, I realized that the older I get, the harder it will be to walk away that lucky. So, now I carry all the time and hope to avoid confrontations like that.

Keeping a list with a reward/punishment system sounds like a really good approach to me. I may have to adopt that if I see myself drifting back in that direction.

Holy crap, dude. Nice job taking down a larger opponent. I can definitely see why you'd carry all the time now.

We had an inner city ministry at church where we bussed in kids from the projects every Sunday. I often think of one of the elder lady teachers telling an argumentative kid, (many actually) "I don't argue with children."

I’m committed to No Nut November. It’s not as bad as it sounds, just means I will not Jack off or watch any porn for the entire month. I can still make the sex with the GF, but in all honesty it’s basically going to be a true NNN. This sacrifice has to count for something.

Why does everyone think I’m Jake? 😂
Certainly ain't nothin' to do with the fuckin obvious.

Ya know, the whole masquerading as a faggy social media manipfluencer—while proactively regurgitating that very same faggboi's shittiganda multiple times everywhere...

...😂 definitely wouldn't mislead anyone to suspect you're actually the very same faggy fuckwit.

The thing of it is, it happened in my own home. His father was a professional wrestler, but this guy's skills just weren't up to par.

I have my place and a rental that I'm looking to unload while this area is going downhill. These parts are dangerous now.

Great topic @laterallyshaking, thanks for starting a meaningful thread.

Self improvement denotes that there is room to improve in a certain facet of something or other. This also implies that one who is striving to improve, recognizes that a worthy aspect of their being needs to be worked on.

Self-understanding, and self reflection are the keys to self improvement. Only when a person inwardly sees a requirement, will the work be done, at least in my opinion.

Goals are great, written or mental, to establish a goal gives direction.. Small goals, big goals, whatever, they all have the same effect, much like sin.

Physical strain, in my opinion, bringing yourself to muscle failure, such that an exercise can no longer be performed, is an excellent way to achieve this self reflection.

One way to define success, is : "The continuous pursuit of a worthy goal". You have to known where you are going to get there.

We are what we think.

Below is a video with some good advise.

Thank you. I love this response.

I was actually just thinking this morning; the only time a bad habit can be overcome is when there is something more enticing to pursue. To try to encourage yourself to stop doing something just because it's "bad" or may one day bring you to somewhere undesirable is difficult, but when you set your eyes on a goal to which the bad habits serve as an obstacle, it becomes much easier to leave them behind. The motivation then takes care of itself.

Without a known destination, you are going nowhere.
