I haven’t seen a thread about Scotch on the new board, and I think it’s time. Weigh in on the best/worst you’ve had, your “go to” brand, best blend, etc. Also, any interesting anecdotes or stories about bad decisions associated with Scotch would be welcome.
For me:
Best = Balvenie 21 year old port wood finished. Unbelievable.
Worst = Clan MacGregor. Just no. Don’t know why I did it. Tastes like kerosene and desperation.
“House brand” = Glenlivet 12 year old. It’s great and won’t break the bank.
Best special occasion but won’t break the bank scotch = Lagavulin 16 year old. Smokey on the front end, but great finish. Perfect with a cigar.
Best blend = Johnny Blue.
Best affordable blend = Dimple Pinch. Not too pricey and fairly complex.
