This is not a good ailment to have, unless you need an excuse to get out of work or social function you do not want to attend. If you are an hourly employee (get paid for the amount of time you work) this will change the amount of your next paycheck. Some employers also require a doctor's note to return to work, so this might not be the best way to get out of work if you do not want to attend (unless you or someone you know is a physician.)
