American and European liberals criticize the lack of an exit plan for the Iran conflict, yet the US has maintained a military presence in Europe since World War II with no exit plan there either. That inconsistency deserves scrutiny.
The case for US withdrawal from NATO is straightforward: Europe has chronically underfunded its own defense and relied on American taxpayers to subsidize its security. If European nations are unwilling to bear that burden themselves, the US has little reason to continue doing so. A US exit from NATO would force Europe to confront Russia without American backing — and likely moderate its rhetoric accordingly.
Europe faces serious internal challenges regardless. Mass immigration from cultures with little historical alignment to Western values, rising domestic tensions, and weak political will to address either problem suggest Europe may be heading toward significant internal conflict. That is Europe's problem to solve. The US cannot and should not substitute for European political resolve.
NATO and the UN no longer serve clear US interests. The UN is financially insolvent and functionally ineffective. Rubio and Vance have offered Europe a partnership grounded in shared Western values — the response has been indifference. A partnership that only functions when convenient is not a partnership worth maintaining. If Europe chooses accommodation with Russia and China over defending Western civilization, the US should note that and plan accordingly.
US strategic focus is shifting to the Western Hemisphere. Venezuela was a opening move. Mexico's cartel problem will be addressed, and a stable, secure Mexico is a far more valuable partner than a declining Europe. Cuba is next. The US will build a hemisphere-based alliance of capable, committed partners.On Iran: the US does not need Iranian oil and can pursue its objectives there independently. Countries that depend on that oil but refuse to help secure it should not expect American protection indefinitely.
Post-Iran, the US will reassess all its global engagements through one lens: reciprocity. The emerging framework — a results-oriented alliance replacing legacy institutions — reflects that shift. Europe must decide whether to reclaim its identity and stand for something, or continue on its current trajectory. The US will not make that choice for them, and will not wait.
I was reading reddit in the early 2000's about commie things. One thing they kept saying on there that has never been brought up nationally is taking over 401k's. I give it a few more years and they'll finally go public with that because they've been dreaming about punishing people who plan for retirement.
Pelosi has brought that up from time to time. Hearing that twat say the Government needs to tax that money whether you take it out or not is sickening, or her people need to give some back
