If Ukraine doesn’t win this war and take back all their land, including Crimea, NATO is at severe risk of Russian aggression.
So yes it is in America’s interest to nationalize the system. A small war in Ukraine is better than all out war on NATO nation’s soil.

More to the point though the yank government can requisition any civilian’s property for national defense purposes. This has been established yank law for hundreds of years.
