Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I'm not sure. From what I've seen, they're asking for too much in return. Sure, someone may bite, but at what cost?

Agree what if you give away whole farm and he goes Ken Griffey, Jr. on you with injuries.
I like the Alex Anthopolus strategy of looking for deals at the Goodwill Store.
It's one thing if a team gives up one top prospect, and 2-3 other mid range guys, but it sounds like they're asking for like 4-5 top guys. I mean, history may look back and say the rest of MLB are idiots for not signing this guy to a long term deal, because he'll end up being such a stud, but who knows. As you said, he could also end up with injuries, or just underachieve, and you gave up 2-3 future all stars for him and his huge salary.

If you had to pick two teams who really knew how to party in the modern era of MLB, that '86 Mets team and the early 90's Phillies teams would have to be at or near the top of the list. Lenny knows what he is talking about here.

Glad we took 2 of 2 from the A’s and getting out of that shithole. Tired of hearing the relentless drumbeat picked up in the background from the dorky fans in Right Field. I feel sorry for their fans who are just trying to watch a baseball game that have to put up with that crap year round.
