Every day this week I will memorialize a Marine I served with side by side who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

His family released some of those writings on Tuesday. As a 23-year-old, Gavriel wrote: “I have heard that great men often kept journals – I’d like to be great.”

Paid the price for us, but never had the opportunity to mature into his own greatness beyond his sacrifice
