• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Jobs report

Holy fuck, that was bad. This is Biden's America. Better to stay home then work.

Payrolls miss expectations by a mile

The Labor Department reported a shockingly lower-than-expected 266,000 rise in nonfarm payrolls in April. While in normal times that would be a good reading, it compared to expectations of around 1 million.

Another surprise came in that the unemployment rate rose, to 6.1% from 6%.

The increase in unemployment rate may be positive news. It means a few people actually started looking for work again.

The unemployment rate is crazy. How the fuck are we going up?

Help wanted signs everywhere and no one willing to work. Taking less to stay home and getting free stuff from charitable orgs makes it too easy to not get a job.

Huge issue here in Oklahoma. Service is terrible everywhere you go, they apologize and say they cant fill a full roster.

If the company is large and requires drug testing, it is even worse. Medical marijuana has knocked many out of the eligible pool of workers.

Need more illegals to "do the jobs Americans won't do."

Almost like it's by design.
