• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I think this election confirms that Americans want Trump's policies albeit without Trump's brash personality....

Not Ivanka. Her and Jared are too liberal and more like the uniparty. Jr or Eric? Ok. But Kushner and Ivanka caused internal issues with pushback on the Trump agenda.

Don’t take this as an insult cuz I like you as a poster but if Ivanka is “too liberal” for many here then she is probably exactly where she needs to be on the spectrum to have success with the broader electorate while also serving the country’s legitimate needs.

If the GOP were slightly more moderate and closer to what they traditionally had as a platform, as opposed to post Reaganism style conservatism we see today, they would sweep every election and win the majority of independents.

It’s time for the GOP to adapt to the times and America 1st policy is the platform to make that happen.

i always find it funny to get into this conversation- and personal attributes don't matter when it's Clinton or Biden or anyone with a D by their name, "it's about policy", but when it comes to Trump, no policy matters, it's all about hate for Trump...

The Don had Jarred and Ivanka as advisors for a reason.

I like their body of work in his administration even if I don’t agree with everyone of their opinions or positions.

Besides all that Kelly Ann was probably my least favorite administration official so I take everything attached to her with a grade of slaw.

We will just have to agree to disagree. Kelly Ann was a rock. Never budged. You can say he had them there for a reason but DJT fucked up with McMasters, Priebus, Milley, Kelly, Scaramucci, Wray, Rosenstien, Sessions, Barr, Rex whatever, etc.

He offered to play ball and they all ended up being scum. His second term won’t have near as many RINO fuck ups.

I 100% agree with you. That said, if he could tone down his rhetoric, that would go a long ways in helping the nation as a whole to stand behind him. I don't want him to change his policies or even his actions, but if he could cut out some of his crassness, he'd be much more popular for the majority of voters.

I'll vote for him 100% based on what he did in office, but there are a lot of people that have just flat out said, they won't vote for him because they don't like him. I think it's lame, but still, that's how they feel. You know....feelings...:confused:

Trump used sticks and stones and ended up with something great.

From Sessions to Kelly Ann the man had the Bed News Bears and ended up changing American politics forever.

I don’t mind agreeing to disagree on Kelly Ann either. She plays her role well enough.

That’s cool. No issues. I can just tell you that the primary negative discussed at thanksgiving and Christmas was him mostly. I don’t trust him at all. Honestly Eric is the well polished Trump and Jr is more like his dad but less witty. I’d take either of them but Eric is smooth and so is his wife. Trump won’t be the last Trump as POTUS. JMO.

I’d be down for Jr. then Eric or even just Eric.

I don’t trust anyone outside of that family to get it done. The swamp and uniparty is just too deep and wide.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. A certain few will have to decide between voting for mean tweets Trump and voting for CRT and the racist democrats.

Ivanka and Jared are too liberal to lead the party. She delivers the message with a softer tone, but that’s not what the party is looking for. That’s why no one votes for please clap Bush.

Could never trust Kelly Ann Conway because her husband is a never Trumper.

I appreciate your insight on all of this stuff and agree with you. Calling GWB a RHINO would be a compliment to what he really is/was. IMO. Ivanka and Jared are democrats. Being the Don's daughter and son in law are why they had key positions in the white house. Granted both are pretty impressive people (which in part is why they held those positions) they are not conservatives. I do like the case for Eric as a potential presidential candidate.

I'll give you a serious answer. It wasn't just Trump's personality quirks. The base loves the red meat because libs are pwned.

Reality though is Trump had good ideas without any real organization and an inability to control the factions inside the whitehouse. The executive branch is one of the largest institutions on the planet and it's full of various factions backing everything from woke, national security, to anti china, pro china, pro business, etc etc etc. It's run by bureaucrats, revolving door staff members, idealists, group think, and so on. The President is the only elected official and as a result that position is a check on the institutions that make up the presidency.

Some presidents are bad because they side with a faction, other presidents are bad because they can't control the various factions (think George W and the Neocons). Good Presidents are the one that can control the various factions and push them in such a way to enforce a President's own agenda that he got elected on.

Biden sucks for the very same reason Trump wasn't really all that great, neither could or can tame the institutions. Biden can't do it because he's Biden for one. Add to that his mental faculties aren't all there. Trump couldn't do it because he could not do it because he had no organization and was the most petty president we've ever had.
