They(people of french descent) have been protesting/borderline rioting for about a year over the stupidness of their government.

French Military is one of the more capable militaries in the world in reality. Unlike the UK they actually fought for their empire and did a good job is keeping most of it. You wouldn't know it, but France still controls huge swathes of Africa and is always fighting to keep it inline. They actually control the region predominantly through language and currency. Some of their colonies are trying to create their own currency, but someone is still going to have to back it, which should be France.
Problem with their military is that while it's more efficient than ours, it's a light combat force not meant for full scale warfare. But neither is anyone else.

It's the uncertainty that comes with war that bothers everyone most. Russia just passing over an opportunity while everyone is distracted elsewhere is a rather low possibility.
Hmmm. They gonna back up India and the southeast Asians? I guess that is their best shot. I would love to hear a no bs assessment of who is pro China and who would fight them if they flex in that southern Asia area.
