SignUp Now!who dat?Nelson Peltz needs to get on the board of Disney ASAP and fire the fuck out of some people.
Activist investor. He tried to get a board seat and get them profitable again a year ago but Iger made promises that he hasn't kept. Peltz has bought another $2billion in stock or something crazy.... and is actively trying to get on the board to force changes.who dat?
As usual. You're completely off. Their lawsuit with Desantis isn't their biggest problem. They've made business decisions since 2018 that have been absolutely boneheaded. They spend more money than they take in. They are going to lose over $1billion on box office movies this year. They shut down their Star Wars hotels because nobody was staying there taking an almost $1billion loss. They've lost around $14 billion on Disney+ streaming service. Cord cutting is hurting their cable revenue. Traffic is slowing at the US parks. They overpaid for Fox studios by over $20 billion. They have to buy the rest of Hulu from Comcast this year and they already have $30 billion in debt and interest is high... they could issue stock to pay for it but that's bad because their stock price is at a 10 year low. They fired people that were good at their job because they were old white men and hired young college grads of varying diversity. Disney went from one of the most liked co's in the world to being 50/50 pos/neg view.Disney’s biggest problem is the governor of Florida likes to emulate authoritarianism. Desantis is attacking the brand of the the biggest business in his state to score a cheap political points so that he can finish 5 in the presidential primaries.
That aside Disney needs to get back to making it easy for everyone in America to show up once a year. It’s gotten to be such a cluster fuck for out of staters that they’d rather just stay home than pay thousands of dollars for a week’s long pain in the ass.
I didn’t say anything about their lawsuit with Desantis. As usual. You're completely off. Their lawsuit with Desantis isn't their biggest problem. None of that had anything to do with the state of FL. Most of those moves were put in place long before Ron ran for Gov.
Again you're wrong. Desantis didn't start a war with Disney. Disney started a war with the state of FL... Which is fine except they were breaking state law with the Reedy Creek improvement district. RCID was to be operated as a government and not part of the Disney Co. Disney hadn't been doing that since Walt died. Because they were the largest employer the state looked the other way for decades. The state finally holding them to the same standard Universal has is not punishment... it's fair. And most of Disney stock is held by institutional investors. The avg Joe doesn't own enough of Disney to affect stock price unless its literally all of them dumping their stock.I didn’t say anything about their lawsuit with Desantis.
I said the problem is the governor trashing their brand.
Lots of businesses spend more than they take in over short periods. Most of those businesses don’t have the misfortune of an authoritarian governor intentionally trying to hurt their company’s bottom line. As you noted, traffic is down.
Furthermore, stock price isn’t a good barometer for the health of a company. The stocking market is a voting machine and large portions of the population have no clue which gender can have babies let alone how to assess the health of company.
Disney got a little out of hand with the streaming spending but so did every other company in that industry during COVID. As that portion of their business normalizes with the rest of that industry it will become less of a drag. Their real issue lies with foot traffic which harkens back to Desantis in more ways than one.

Thanks for proving my point with the classic grade school spin & the first two paragraphs.Again you're wrong. Desantis didn't start a war with Disney. Disney started a war with the state of FL... Disney said that making sure teachers can talk to 6, 7 and 8 year old kids about sex and sexuality was the same as the civil rights movement in the 60's. A statement like that is so insanely stupid that you'd have to be a fucking moron to blame Ron over their loss of respect among their customers.
But if you want another barometer to the health of a co.... How many solid co's have fired their CEO while he was at a Elton John concert out of state, fired several other vp's, had their CFO resign, have a couple of largest shareholders openly calling for replacing the board of directors and had their old CEO come back for 2 years to "fix" things and then quickly change that to 5 years...?
So you're dumber than I thought. Desantis did not drag Disney into the culture war. Disney hired activist over the last decade that have proudly said that they are activist and they want to turn kids gay. Ron didn't make them say that. They shut down their most popular ride at Disney World because some gender studies major said it was racist. They spent millions of dollars to change the beloved ride to a ride nobody likes. That was a political choice by disney. Ron didn't make them do that. This is all on Disney. All Ron did was take away their special district powers because of how bad they were abusing state law. Thanks for proving my point with the classic grade school spin & the first two paragraphs.
Disney has become a political football thanks to the negative attention they are receiving from the governor and therefore broader social media community.
They lost half their customer base based on how people perceive their politics.
With a governor like that, who needs enemies?
