Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Yup, time to make people realize a college education beyond STEM and the trades is a fucking waste of money.

If you haven't watched it it is well worth the time. Yeonmi escaped North Korea to China and was sold as a slave and raped and abused. She escaped that across the Gobi desert and ended up in South Korea. She went from a 2nd grade reading level to hs level in a little over a year and managed to get into one of South Koreas best schools. She transferred to Columbia and said it was more restrictive than North Korea. She couldn't name one class she took that she felt was beneficial to her as a student looking for actual knowledge. She loves America but can't understand our college system.

Agree. We really need to push back against the bullshit in the school system. I will continue to tell my kids the truth and correct them when they start bringing up any of the crazy shit they are teaching them at school. Also, I don’t mind writing to the teachers and principals and giving them a piece of my mind. Probably puts me in the “asshole file” but I don’t give a shit.
Yes indeed. Many of the kids nowadays don't have parents at home who don't care or even know what is being taught much less how to correct it. I tell everyone to put your complaints in writing because a phone call is forgotten once the receiver is put back in the cradle. At least a written document, preferably certified mailed, can't be claimed to have never been informed of the complaint.
Edit: Be sure to "CC" everyone in the chain of authority.
We have an issue in my town (not school related-that's another topic) where a 17 y/o kid without a DL took the keys to his Mom's car, went for a joy ride with friends and t-boned a woman and killed her. He was going 90 mph on rainy streets in a 40 mph zone and hit her as she turned onto the street. Several of the local activists say it was her fault since she didn't yield the right of way to him! Morons. Fortunately, I know who the ADA is and this ADA takes no prisoners.

It has nothing to do with education anymore, just an expensive indoctrination system system now.

Sucks that what should be a noble profession like teaching is stained by the shitty politics of the swamp.
