Someone gave me a BGE and my pops gifted me a trager.

The traeger is obviously a pellet grill and i love it. It is easy to light, start and use and keeps the temperature perfect if you are cooking long times. It has no problem holding steady temperatures for many hours. The one negative I will say is that the one i have doesn't seem to smoke enough. My BGE will really smoke and give that smoky flavor that i like. Can't quite get it with the traeger.

Pellet grills easy to use and convenient. BGE little better flavor but more work. Thats my experience.

I have a BGE, a Treager and a KUDU, which is an open fire grill. Depends on what you are doing. Smoking is probably the BGE, Treager is great for chicken and anything that does not need high heat. KUDU let’s you burn hot and then move the rack to the perfect temp. My actual favorite is filets and I use a reverse sear and cast iron skillet. I may add a beefer to the mix.

Traeger here. Agreed, if it could just put out a little more smoke... I tend to run mine at 180 at the beginning of the cook to give it more time on the grill overall. about an hour into to a butt smoke, I will go to 225-250 to get it going. Pellet is good and as others say, the temperature control can't be beat.

Not bad, gotta vacuum out the fire cup every now and then. Like most low temp smokers though, you gotta clean them often as the fat drippings do accumulate. It isn't super easy to crank it up to 500 and burn the shit off.

I went with the recteq 700 and have been very happy with it. Super easy to use and holds temp really well. Only get to 500, so not a great option for searing. I have a BGE too, that’s really better for steaks. I think they all perform really well, I choose the recteq based off the build and the warranty.

I got a smoker this year, and man, I wish I would have done it 10 years ago. Been cooking brisket, chicken, pulled pork, etc on it, and everything has been delicious. I definitely recommend getting one.

I got the recteq bullseye 380, and I love it! I'm sure it's not as good as the 700 for long slow cooks, but everything I've done on it so far has turned out great. Plus, I like that I can crank it up to riot mode, and get it up to over 800 degrees. Making cleanup of the grill super fast and easy.

Masterbuilt makes an awesome gravity fed charcoal grill/smoker. It is very versatile. I use lump charcoal and wood chunks for smoking. I run regular briquettes for grilling.

I have smoked walleye fillets @ 180° and reverse seared steaks @ 700°. It takes about 13 minutes to heat up to 700°. I would highly recommend this unit.

Youre going to be sad that you dont have much room on the smoker side. Im being serious when I say that.

I don't feed an army just need it to hold a couple of Boston butts or slab or two of ribs
When I smoke I like to fill the grill as much as I can. Smoked foods last forever and you get more bang for your buck if you fill the grill. Doesnt cost extra pellets to fill the grill more, but it does cost more to run it for 12 hours twice instead of 12 hours once.

What's the cost on the pellets like, how much per cooking session?
