I've had a constant ringing in my ear for the last year or so. I've read that it could be something called tinnitus, but have not yet visited any doctor to have it checked.

Curious if anyone else has dealt with something similar and if so, is there any remedy at home worth trying before going all on in with the doc/specialist?

Unvaxxed btw.

TIA

I went to an audiologist and they tested my hearing but didn't really do anything since I didn't have any hearing loss.

Ginkgo Biloba is supposedly a remedy but I'm not sure how effective it is. Does it bother you all the time or just when its quiet? If you're having trouble sleeping, I'd recommend using a noise machine.

Yes it does often bother me when trying to sleep. It’s annoying and sometimes not as noticeable but some days it’s frustrating.

I usually sleep with some background noise. Will definitely try ginkgo biloba, appreciate the rec.

White noise apps or a fan will usually help with the sleeping part. For me at least. I don't have it currently but did a few years back.

Had it along with vertigo a little over a year ago. I thought it was my neck causing the problems. ENT ran all sorts of tests, Brain MRI hearing test, etc. Everything came back negative. Turned out to be my neck and “vestibular migraines”

If you have tight neck muscles, I’d look into that as well.

Have had it for years. No known cures as far as I know. I’m so used to it now that it doesn’t really bother me.

Had it for 15-20 years now, just learned to live with it. Went to an audiologist and they ran a bunch of tests and said I was fine.

Background noise is your answer. Silence is when i really start to notice it. Radio, tv, white noise etc all help the ringing blend in so you don’t notice it so much.

I read that the ringing eats memory in your brain. That is a serious statement btw. Look it up.

If your eyes are stressing over computer screens it can cause tension in your neck resulting in tension near your ears.

I’ve had ringing in my ears all my life. Been wearing hearing aids the last 10 years. It’s a bitch. There isn’t anything I’ve found that helps or anyway to treat it. Whoever solves it some day will be very rich. Forget white noise, brown noise is the solution.

Yes I've had tinnitus my entire life. You just get used to it. I tune it out most of the time and can hear just fine.
