Damn, look at the area where Wyoming, Nebraska, and Colorado come together.

Also, look at central Montana.

It's where a whole bunch of the LGM-30 minuteman silos are located....basically dozens of nuclear missiles underground ready to launch in a minute's notice.

This map is contrived under the assumption that Russia would target us the same way we target them....that is, have all our missiles pointed at either large metropolitan areas or known military installations where nuclear warheads are stationed.

When ICBMs were first developed they decided to put the bulk of them in MT, ND, etc. up north. The three concentrations of black dots correspond roughly to the locations of the three primary facilities in the US which house LGM-30 Minuteman III missiles: Minot Air Force Base - 91st Missile Wing in ND, F.E Warren Air Force Base - 90th Missile Wing in WY, and Malstrom Air Force Base - 341st Missile Wing in MT.

You want to be in the yellow areas if the shit hits the fan. It could be much worse than this.

This is a limited counterforce strike option. It is an option where you only target the opposing military. You try to knock out their ground based nukes at first and important air logistics facilities like Warner Robins, GA.

It it was more aggressive they would attack more military bases. They didn't show the bases on the panhandle of Florida being attacked.

The opposite strategy is countervalue which is attacking the opponents assets that are of no military value, but important to the people and economy.

In a countervalue strategy the first thing to go are the refineries on the gulf coast. They would be targeted with numerous missiles. They would want those refineries in ashes.

In a countervalue strategy, then you are talking about attacking LA, NY, ATL, etc. You are attacking main power plants, etc.

Countervalue attacks are basically the end of the world scenario and will get so out of control.

It all depends on what strategy the opponent uses, counterforce or countervalue.

We are screwed in that first scenario.

What are we going eat? The brunt of the first map feeds a 1/3rd of the world or some crazy statistic.

This is an FEMA map of likely targets. The circles are likely nuclear targets.

Dark brown, brown and blue indicate areas of likely nuclear fallout based on prevailing winds, decreasing from dark brown to blue.

You want to be mellow in yellow if the shit hits the fan.
I don’t trust that map. FEMA is trying to tell us that the PanTex plant in Amarillo, right in the heart of the Texas panhandle, isn’t a target. I would think it is in the top three targets considering it is the final assembly and disassembly point for all US nuclear weapons. Might not get a lot of fallout since they are not armed, but you can bet they will blow that place up.293E29A5-CFAD-4ED3-9DFE-73EB6317E8D7.png

I’ve always heard Oak Ridge TN has nukes and other important military storage. Maybe that is incorrect

This is very cool to look at. Thanks for posting.

I saw you mentioned this was a minimal attack. God help us all in any scenario. Still, in no scenario does Ft Bragg not get attacked in any kind of nuclear strategy around attacking our military installations. At the height of the Cold War, American intelligence learned that 60 combined warheads were targeted on Ft. Bragg.

My question is how old is this map? Also, Dobbins in Atlanta is getting attacked. A lot of our F22 manufacturing equipment is mothballed there. Nothing for Barksdale in Louisiana either? They surely aren't allowing half of our B52 inventory to stay active. Our sub base in S. Georgia where our Ohio Class boomers are at? Surprised nothing for Eglin/Tyndall in the panhandle either.

Keep posting stuff like this. Love this kind of discussion.

I will check on the date.

One thing on the South Georgia sub base. That thing will be empty. Those subs will be long gone from that base as soon as tensions increase.
