Any place that is a viable alternative to reddit? I'm not looking for a facebook-style social media. I want to post on forums with an avatar, and have it run by people who aren't assholes who ban at the drop of a hat.
I posted something slightly offensive to queers and they dogpiled me. Like jesus christ. If you don't like what I have to say, ignore it. But then they ran to the mods to tattle on me. Then I got banned. Then I got perma-banned by the reddit admins. For a one-liner. Which I admit was slightly offensive, but where the hell is my free speech?
I feel like as I grow older, I've grown more tolerant of everyone else and I've come to fully expect other people to be unhinged batshit insane. I try to control myself and suffer everyone else the best I can. But everyone else has become a lot more aggressive, intolerant, and just downright fucking crazy.
It's even the mods. I feel like I walk around with a target on my back just for daring to disagree with someone or voice a critical opinion.
It's reached the point where it's like I have impostor syndrome, not just in relation to living in NY, or living in the USA, but in relation to our culture and Constitution. When I look at how our online social media networks are run, I can't say that this is a people who value free speech. They like to say they believe in free speech, but when you look at their actions they absolutely abhor it. They hate people, dogpile them, can't suffer criticism, tattle on others, expect authority figures to coddle them and punish the people they don't like.
This isn't a nation of people who value freedom. I'd say well over 50% of the people in this country crave the jack-booted heel of a dictator smashing down onto their face. They beg for it every time they go REEEEEEE when they see or hear someone saying something they don't like.
I'm sick and tired of it. I want to speak my mind and I want what I have to say to actually be heard by a wider audience, not in some tiny little closeted room in the backwater of the internet. No offense to the owner. But this place doesn't compare to the likes of Reddit. This is basically a de facto safe space. It might not be intended to be that way, but when there are so few users here what is the real impact of anything we post here?
Right now I'm ban evading with a new account on reddit. Best I can do at the moment. I guess in the future I should avoid saying anything mildly insulting to a faggot.
