• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Alec Baldwin's Rust and Brown Recluses in the news again

Is TFSF starting to conjure up some meme magic?

Looks to me like this person would have a cause of action against Baldwin's production company.

"But for" Baldwin killing the woman they would have not had to tear down the set and this person would not have been bitten.

There are pictures on the net of what it looks like after being bitten. Most people don't have much difficulty with these bites. However, in some like this person, it becomes an issue.

Here is an article discussing new research from the U of Arizona about the mode of action of this venom.

Really interesting article. This was especially interesting:

Venomous Viagra? The Brazilian wandering spider’s venom contains a toxin whose unusual erection-inducing qualities have attracted the attention of the pharmaceutical industry. In 2007, researchers found that the bites of the Brazilian wandering spider can cause long and painful erections in human males, along with other symptoms. The effect happens because the spider’s venom raises the levels of nitric oxide, which is a chemical that increases blood flow. Researchers have since tested the toxin that is responsible for this unusual effect, called PnTx2-6, in the hope of developing a potential new drug for erectile dysfunction.

So long as the erections are long but not painful.
