Also, we Georgians will let you claim Longstreet. We don't want him.
We have a couple others. Thomas Sumter was a revolutionary General. He is my favorite. My best friend is an Indian descendent from Sumter SC. GEN Sumter wouldn't send them on the trail of tears relocation. He sent them deep in to the swamp in Sumter. Cheraw Tribe of Sumter. Look them up. My buddy is the chief

Hampton also designed and let the the Great Beefsteak Raid. The Beefsteak Raid is one hell of the story. It fed a lot of hungry Confederate soldiers in the trenches at Petersburg.

"The Beefsteak Raid was a Confederate cavalry raid that took place in September 1864 as part of the Siege of Petersburg during the American Civil War. Confederate Maj. Gen. Wade Hampton led a force of 3,000 troopers of the Confederate States Army on what was to become a 100-mile (160 km) ride to acquire cattle that were intended for consumption by the Union Army, which was laying a combined siege to the cities of Richmond and Petersburg, Virginia."

Hampton was a Gamecock:

"In 1836 Hampton graduated from South Carolina College (now the University of South Carolina), and was trained for the law, although he never practiced."

He might have been one of the richest men in the south at the start of the War.
Hes not the OG.

USC Football Quick Facts
