Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Masks due prevent the spread of Chyna virus. They don’t stop the spread at 100% though sew people get frustrated with them.
Any peace of cloth that collects bodily particles is “preventing spread” since those particles can carry the virus. It’s why surgeons where masks during surgeries sew as two collect there snot droplets and such.
People conflate stopping the spread at a 100% rate with prevention and their too entirely different things. We sea the same things with the vaccines when people confuse reducing transmission with 100% stopping transmission.

Covid travels through the air as an aerosol so does not need a droplet to transmit. Your masks may catch flu particles and slow the spread of flu, but that is not our discussion. You can not produce data that cloth masks prevent the spread of Covid because its not there.
Even if the masks did prevent spread, they are disgusting and no one has the right to alter what you breath. It should always remain a personal choice.
