Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Central Bank Digital Money or CBDM should scare the shit out of everyone. They will eliminate paper money so they can track everything. With programable money you can do a lot of nasty stuff. You can control the velocity of money, control how far from your primary residence you spend your money, you can block what you can spend your money on, you can track every economic transaction with no privacy.

Free market crypto is awesome (same with gold and silver btw), but it’s conditioning all the public for government digital money. Not good.
Could you imagine if you attend the January 6th rally or said something on social media the government didn’t like. They wouldn’t have to arrest you. All they would have to do is program your money so you couldn’t spend more than 25 miles from your house between 9-5 M-F for 10 years as punishment and you’d be fucked. Plus it’s a lot cheaper than court costs and prisons. I better stop before I give them ideas.
