You never know who you’re going to sit next to on a flight.

I’ve sat next to a lot of awesome people on planes as I travel nearly every week. I’ve sat next to athletes, musicians, CEO’s and great people. Monday, I was delayed three times; tired, pissed and ready for a nap. As soon as I sat down, the elderly man next to me asked how I was doing. I wanted so badly to put my AirPods in and ignore the world, but I was raised right and responded to all of his questions. He asked about my life, my family and what I did. I told him about my life and he silently listened. I had no idea who I was talking to.

This man is one of 65 people alive who has a Medal of Honor. This man took out an entire machine gun den. This man was shot in the face. This man saved an entire squad. The book and movie “We Were Soldiers” was about his unit.

By the end of the flight I was damn near in tears realizing how selfish I was for not caring about anyone around me and just wanting to be in my own world. I wish our flight could have been longer because I had so many questions that have been left unsanswered. I gave him a hug and a handshake.

I asked him for his card and asked if I could stay in touch and he said he had something better. I gave him my business card and he gave me this. “For those who have gone before us”…. Bless you Joe.

They are building a CMOH museum in Arlington, TX, next to the Cowboys' and Rangers' stadiums. Should be open before long. Among the exhibits are oil paintings of many of the CMOH recipients. A good friend's father in law painted those paintings. He passed away several years ago before he could paint recent recipients.

Good story. I'm gonna tell it like it was me to people in SC. Where were yall going to? But in my story that dude and I kill terrorists who were gonna take the plane down. He dies and I'm the only fucking hero left.
If you're not careful I will fully revoke you like I'm a ZuckerFucker

For conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his life above and beyond the call of duty. As a platoon leader in the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile), 1st Lt. Marm demonstrated indomitable courage during a combat operation. His company was moving through the valley to relieve a friendly unit surrounded by an enemy force of estimated regimental size. 1st Lt. Marm led his platoon through withering fire until they were finally forced to take cover. Realizing that his platoon could not hold very long, and seeing four enemy soldiers moving into his position, he moved quickly under heavy fire and annihilated all four. Then, seeing that his platoon was receiving intense fire from a concealed machine gun, he deliberately exposed himself to draw its fire. Thus locating its position, he attempted to destroy it with an antitank weapon. Although he inflicted casualties, the weapon did not silence the enemy fire. Quickly, disregarding the intense fire directed on him and his platoon, he charged 30 meters across open ground and hurled grenades into the enemy position, killing some of the eight insurgents manning it. Although severely wounded, when his grenades were expended, armed with only a rifle, he continued the momentum of his assault on the position and killed the remainder of the enemy. 1st Lt. Marm's selfless actions reduced the fire on his platoon, broke the enemy assault, and rallied his unit to continue toward the accomplishment of this mission. 1st Lt. Marm's gallantry on the battlefield and his extraordinary intrepidity at the risk of his life are in the highest traditions of the U.S. Army and reflect great credit upon himself and the Armed Forces of his country.

Sat next to a very pretty but heavily surgically enhanced woman on a 0600 flight out of VPS. Talked to her on the way to ATL. She was visiting her sister and lived in AK. Fast forward 6 months I am in AK and make my way to the ABC. Lo and behold she comes walking down the stairs to the stage in all her glory. I run up to the stage with a few bucks. I come eye to eye with a bleached butthole and when she turns around I say "Remember Me?" She says "Yes". We had a great time catching up.....her dentist husband had just died of a drug overdose in Mexico......

You're not living until you cropdust all the seats on your way to the rear of the plane. Might I add, eating Mexican or Indian the night prior is key.

I lurve American ladies, the ones from Alibama and Georgia, not the fat fuckers or the ones with tatoo'd eyebrows. Only slim ladies between 45 and 50 need apply, size of brest is immaterial but must like having beers and a laugh. Dog friendly ladies with nicely trimmed gadger and a firearms license most welcome. :)

I have absolutely no idea how I've ended up here but hey ho. I'm fucked in the socialist scum republic of Wales so want out

Worst flight of my life was a late-nighter from DC to Knoxville. I was in Orlando for work, only way to get home without waiting til the next day was to go through DC. The flight out of Dulles was packed with incredibly obnoxious LSU fans, something like 55 out of 60 seats on the plane, on their way to Knoxville for the UT game on Saturday. I wind up next to an enormous LSU fan. At least she was a nice lady, but she was so big that her fat impinged on my space. 90 of the longest minutes of my life. At least she didn't stink.

A great lesson for all to learn. Good for you!
