Of those that I saw play I’d go with Hershel Walker. Bo and and B Sanders are right there as well.

I do think Barry Sanders was the best running back I’ve seen in the NFL as far as guys in my lifetime. He was so good. Still watch his highlights to this day and marvel at what the dude could do. Even when the entire opposing defense knew he was getting the rock.

When having a conversation of "best running back", you must speak about Barry Sanders, and then everyone else.

To know who is the best, you have to ask those who played with him, and that was their consensus.

Herschel. Bill Bates probably agrees.

He ran over Sal Sunseri too. Sal used to live across the street from us when he coached at Alabama A&M. Eventually ended up DL coach under Saban.

Told this story on here before but:
I’m sure most remember his son Vinnie was a DB in the early Saban years. Tino Sunseri was closer in age to me and we became pretty good friends and played basketball out in the street together and Zelda Ocarina of Time. Tino started QB at Pitt for a couple years. His daughter Jacklyn was my middle school girlfriend at one point. Vinnie would ride his dirt bike in circles around their half acre back yard

It’s funny when guys like Sal get older and fat, but you can still tell how athletic they were. His fat ass would do flips off the diving board at the pool at 50 years old. Now I am the fat ass doing flips on the diving board at 40

In talking about running mofos over during a run, ma y could be brought up. Emmitt Smith, for one. He was a powerful runner and blocker. Jim Brown another.
