So if your site grows enough over time about 50 million zombies are going to wake up one day and start DDoSing this place. You need a yuge network to do WAF for you and filter out the bad actors before they even get to the front door. Prolexic, cloudflare, imperva, Verizon, as well as the big tech cloud providers give you cover for that. You may want to look into that now and ask CodeMonkey how they did their WAF solution because they were doing it on a shoestring budget.

Personally I would look into cloud solutions in Russia. They won't give a damn about site content and may even chip in and help if it riles up enough wannabe commies. Also you'd get the benefit of their WAF solutions for a tiny fraction of the cost of a big boy firm.
