It's a direct violation of the 1st amendment for any law to be passed which legislates a religious ceremony.

The SCOTUS ruling that allowed gay marriage was both a violation of the 1st amendment and a violation of separation of powers. The judicial branch is supposed to enforce our laws not interpret them or change them.

Anyone who cheers for this is undermining our Republic. The USA is sliding towards fascism with thunderous applause.

Ideally all laws regarding marriage should be repealed and citizens should only be able to file taxes individually. No more joint tax filings.

Marriage should have been left to the churches.

This troll attempt is way too obvious. Marriage has been a civil union for economic benefits for thousands of years. To claim itโ€™s somehow religious is just being intentionally obtuse.

Tweaking the bill to allow more religious freedom exemptions, he added, helped Republicans deliver a stronger message to voters โ€œthat this is not about an extreme liberal, progressive end that would destroy religious freedom in this country.โ€

Redundant
The full faith in commerce clause already codified that any marriage taken place in another state is recognized by all states whether legal or not.
Simply this is a way to keep people divided. No one gives a shit who is fucking whom except for the pedos like @Rube Reaper

They think they can make churches accept gay marriage by
revoking their tax excerpt status if the church doesnโ€™t embrace it.

Thatโ€™s all this is about. Attempting to destroy churches.

Youโ€™re a rube.

Congress did this so that the cultists that control the yank Supreme Court couldnโ€™t carve out an exception to that clause to screw over LGTBQA+ people.

Are you stating there is no tax exemption clause for churches
tucked away in that bill?

If so you are either ignorant or lying. I suspect ignorance but
lying wouldnโ€™t suprise me.

Who cares if there is or not?

If a church decides it wants to forgo its tax exempt status thatโ€™s their business. All tax exempt entities have to follow rules or if they choose not to follow those rules then they lose their exemption. Why should churches get special treatment?

They shouldnโ€™t.

The government isnโ€™t closing the church down for good or destroying churches in any way with this bill.

The bill doesn't actually authorize any of that, but the Foundation is highlighting concerns that down the line, the IRS or federal government will use religious opposition to same-sex marriage to attack the tax-exempt status of religious organizations. Sen. Mike Lee (Rโ€“Utah) attempted to introduce an amendment that would strengthen religious freedom protections in the bill but was rejected.

Religion isnโ€™t a legitimate excuse for bigotry.

The same way Satanists canโ€™t violate the law by making human sacrifices, in the name of religion, neither can Christians violate the law by discriminating against same sex marriage, queer, and LGTBQA+ couples in the name of religions.
