• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Is anyone familiar with The Guide for the Perplexed?

It was written around 1190 and sets out to explain a lot of the Old Testament doctrine. The third book provides a detailed explanation of Ezekiel’s chariot.

Well the publication of this book pissed off a ton of the top brass in the Jewish community at the time. They set out to create a mystical response called the Zohar that is somewhat considered “secret” doctrine of the Jews and is the central document of all things Kabbalah

The Kabbalah is a common theme in nearly ALL the mystery societies, from the higher degrees of Free Masonry to the Rosicrucians to Aleister Crowley’s Thelema.

Interesting stuff to say the least that gets buried in history.

I totally agree big Croot. In Jordan Peterson's book "Maps of Meaning - The Architecture of Belief" he begins with mythology and builds his case from there about how all religions sprang from the mythological womb and all tell basically the same story with twists of superficial elements while leaving the core story the same. In his follow up book "An Antidote to Chaos" he gets into neuropsychology and connects religious dogma that has been around for ever. If you never read any of his work, it was tailor made for you.
