Didn’t see a snake thread and this dude showed up on my porch yesterday. Ho Lee Fuck he is well fed. He slithered back under the house.

Pretty sure it’s a non poisonous rat snake. We live next to the marsh so probably an abundant supply of food for him.

The babysitter had just shown up, the kids had a friend over, and I had guests arriving at the house in 5 minutes. Otherwise he would have been dead. As it was, I let him slither back under the house.

My 1st grade teacher had 2 pet black rat snakes. She used to feed them live mice during class, coolest shit ever for a 6 year old...doubt that would fly today, but nobody cared in the 80s.

Picked up a load of firewood at a friend's ranch last Thanksgiving. Picked up the last piece of wood and there was a copperhead underneath it. It was cold out and the snake was lethargic until the sun hit it. Lasted a few minutes until a 20 ga shell blew it to smithereens.

Ironically, I have a milk snake in my office at school. Ordered it from Florida. It matches our school colors. The kids love it.
