Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

I wanted to die on my flight to Boise. Absolutely miserable.
We restrict children in many ways. There should be an age minimum to be allowed to fly. Or stick the damn kids in cargo.
Tell the parents to blow in their nose in a nice way. Babies can’t pop air pressure in their ears.
It’s a problem when they’re one row in front of you. My fault for not splurging for first class.
Children in general really grind my gears.
Planes, stores, biking up and down my street.
School buses are socialism in action and the pain level checks out appropriately.

I've got 4 kids and we lived away from home for a while so would fly a couple times a year over the holidays. It sucks, no two ways about it. But with a little planning you can make it relatively painless. Just bring some snacks and an ipad and you have 95% of the problems covered.
Luckily my kids are old enough now where i can smack the shit out of them if they misbehave, so we don't have any problems anymore.

That won’t work when the baby is a row in front of you. I say we put them in cargo with their parents who don’t care about making people want the plane to crash.
