Good question, though I imagine the guys there saw what happened, how he flew and landed and maybe no way he could have survived.
They also could have checked his pulse before the camera got down there.
Maybe also making sure the perps don't get away.
I would not be surprised if he was dead from the couple of times the door slammed on him as they tried to drive away.
