MA voters approved a ballot initiative in 2016 that bans eggs that came from hens with less than 1.5 sqft of floorspace. The new law takes effect on January 1st, and it's estimated that the law would ban about 90% of the eggs for sale in MA. "We have to pass it to see what's in it."

This is true for so many things. All they can think of is destroying things and have no plan for what replaces what they destroyed.

With this particular ballot question, it sounds so simple. You would think the hen should have more than 1.5 sqft of space, right? Not if you know how the industry works. Of course, this is by design. I guarantee you the people who drafted this knew that it would destroy the egg market in MA. Their goal is to force everyone to have a vegan diet.

Can you expound on the way it works & why it is designed that way? I don't know much about chicken, or egg, farms and am curious. 1.5 square feet does sound pretty cramped, but again, I am pretty ignorant on the subject.

Nailed it. They want to control the behavior of everyone. But they like to claim that authoritarianism only exists on the right.

Fun fact: George Orwell was a hard core socialist. But he was well aware of the authoritarian nature of the left. Hence 1984

I think the people who drew up the initiative knew what the threshold would be to eliminate almost all eggs from the stores. Maybe the most commonly used pens are 1.4 sqft, or something like that? I bet even the "free range" varieties fail the test if the hen is expected to spend the night in a pen that is less than 1.5 sqft.

I think it's just hilarious that the people in MA are horrified at the law they overwhelmingly passed.

This is me 100%

In Taos, NM they voted to ban plastics. Now the fucktards are angry about no bags in Walmart and other places that don’t carry paper.

I literally laugh out loud when I see people complaining at the store. You shitstains voted for it!!! It’s glorious to witness. It’s like poetic justice. 😂🤣
