It should be that once you start receiving SS benefits, all that should be non-taxable regardless of income. You've already paid income tax on it when it was paid to SS. You shouldn't have to reach Full Retirement Age (FRA) before being able to earn unlimited money and not have your SS income benefit taxed and reduced. You still have to pay SS taxes on your income at any time before or after reaching FRA. Interestingly, if you are able to work and want to work after FRA, earning large amounts of income may help increase your SS benefit.

The government issues you a Socialist Security Card which is now your de facto National ID Number. Every week you work, Uncle Scam extorts money from your paycheck for a program called Old Age and Survivors Disability Insurance (OASDI.)
Now, bear in mind, Uncle Scam tells you this is an insurance program for when you make it to retirement or, Heaven forbid, become disabled. I don't know if you've ever had an accident, but if you total your car whatever you get from the insurance company is not taxed. But, when you reach your retirement age, Uncle Scam taxes that money that you already earned and paid taxes on (not to mention didn't invest and were denied the benefit of any natural increase.) So, you made it to full retirement age and find out you can't live off that whopping (cough, cough) $1500 a month - and oh yeah, they force you to take Medicare, then deduct from that $1500 a month for extra insurance for things like vision and dental and some meds that Medicare doesn't pay for.
Since Uncle Scam can't even guarantee you the principal amount they've taken from you and they don't allow you to realize any gains your money would have made had you invested it, it amounts to legalized extortion. At best it is socialism. What would you call it?

You are behind the times. Now, a child doesn't leave the hospital until they've been issued an SSN. Add to that the right demanded that we use a National ID Card (The REAL ID Act.)
As far as I know, I was the first person to revoke an SSN and that was because the government had a Hell of time making a case against me for an application I signed at the ripe old age of 14 (when I applied for an SSN.)

Doesn't matter. SS is and has always been, a voluntary program.
A 14yo can't legally sign such a thing. Your parent(s) sig would have been the one that was needed.
It doesn't become binding on you until you accept it and use it after reaching the age of 18.
Until then, it was your parent's number that they needed in order to claim you as a dependent.

I'm well aware of that. That is why the courts couldn't rule against me. Now, it is a sick game. IF you have an SSN, you are required to file an income tax return. Without an SSN, you cannot get your National ID Card. Without your National ID Card, you can't register to vote or get a driver's license.
The SSA has hospitals tell most parents (at least where I live) that it is mandatory to fill out the SSA application before the baby leaves the hospital. They generally cite the Enumeration at Birth program in support of this. But, as you say, Socialist Security is still "voluntary."
Back in the good old days when it was the INS, my employer told me I had to get a Socialist Surveillance Number ... ooops "Social Security Number" in order to work. I asked him to show me such a document. He then produced an I-9 Form and it outlined the kinds of ID I had to provide to the employer. I told him to look along the sides of the form and there was an "OMB" number. I explained it to him to have him check it out. The OMB number was an Office of Management and Budget Number and it told you WHO and by what AUTHORITY the information was being demanded.
The problem was that the INS (Immigration and Naturalization Service) was the agency "requiring" the I - 9 information. They had NO authority in Socialist Security matters and I had (probably still have ) a letter from the SSA that states "whether an employee ever gives their SSN to an employer is a private matter between the employer and employee."
Technically you are right, but it is near impossible to live without National ID; it is being done to you by force, by fear, by distraint.
