I think Facebook was in serious trouble as a business anyways. They had already lost the younger generation, and their biggest audience was boomers. Now they pushed a ton of the boomers off with their blatant censorship.

Instagram seems to be doing alright, but not near the footprint that Facebook had. I don’t think anyone uses whats app. The oculus system is pretty cool but though

They say they are going to focus on video platforms, but seem to be way behind there

So in conclusion, I can’t present any objective idea, just opinions out my ass

I guess the metaverse could be cool, but i am very skeptical. Does it involve wearing an oculus type headset? If so, that is a huge negative imo. Maybe they can integrate it with a google glass type product?

It seems like there could be some good entertainment value in a metaverse. Maybe similar to going to the movies.

There is a big difference between the metaverse and the "Meta"verse. Facebook took a term and basically branded it. It would be like a company calling themselves "Net" with respect to the internet.

Metaverse generally refers to the concept of a highly immersive virtual world where people gather to socialize, play, and work. Basically the next step of the internet

Lots of ads for cell phone encryption nowadays. Then you see it's Whats App and it's owned by Meta. I suppose everything sent through that App gets harvested in FB's computers to be used against you later.

Not really sure on specifics, but I tried whats app after using telegram and its essentially the same product, that less people use, and like you mentioned, turning your data over to zuck
