I've been thinking long term about this.
Ford has already come out w the ability to shut down parts of your vehicle if you miss payments. No ac, no radio etc. I have a 2008 Tahoe parked in my driveway that runs and a Chevy pick up which is what I drive daily. I think I may find or fabricate a 1000 gallon tank and keep it at my house. I can make it for 2k and fill it for 3k. But that'd be enough fuel to last me a year if I couldn't get fuel from a pump.
I absolutely believe you'll see gasoline refineries as the next target besides just sabotage explosions.

What’s the life of gasoline in a situation like that?

Usually gasoline is good for 6-12months in good/proper conditions once you buy it. I have no idea how long it takes to produce
But that additive gas stabilizer I use for my boat and boats in my past. I have had the gasoline used 2 years later without any jelling.
Now I should add I would buy marine grade with no ethanol. My bigger issue is where to store 1000 gallons. When my old place burned down I had a 55 gallon drum of fuel that I pulled out of a boat for water contamination.
You could use it to start a fire or run a chainsaw 4stroke but it would shut down a normal engine due to water at spark plug. That is certainly an issue. But there is wiggle room. I'd put a water fuel separator inside the out flow line. I'd also have both electrical and manual pumps.. I'm considering buying the tank and just having an in and out flow. I would do it all on my own maybe 1 friend a plumber help.

Colder or hotter makes it last longer ?
The changes in temp is what does it. Just like boats condensation inside a tank is the issue. Having done steel for 30 years I know how to eliminate moisture in air. I have that all in my brain for it to function. You interested? We are buddies. If you wanna do it we can.

6mo depending on temp
That's general for the populace. I've stored and used 3 year old gasoline. But it is more so the fluctuations in temp and humidity in air that hurt gasoline.
Hence why I'd bury the tank. I can also adopt a dehumdifying filter on the compressed air that enters the tank as I deplete the capacity.

we have played around with diesel storage and condensation is the problem in SC. Additives help

When you use plasma cutting the air has to be nearly pure dry or you can't get the plasma arc to manifest.

The two critical things and maybe it is 3
1- free tank of containment and fill 105%. Leave no room for air.(which holds the h2o)(some consider that 2 things. I see it as everything inside the tank)
2- use compressed air thru a purity filter and only send that to the tank.
I'll say the filters last 10hrs in SC when it's humid af. But take them in a climate controlled space for a week they dry out. We have 5 in service/5 drying each week. And we are cheap. If we were a big place we'd just spend 25 00 a day on filters. I save toilet paper by only shitting at fancy hotels all dirty af too. Lol
It can be done but you're on spot. I've basically giving my idea to protect only me away. Cool

You should have a relief emergency and just a petiecock valve also. You don't want to have you tank be a compression bomb but you don't want a vacuum situation where matter wants to work against the weld. Situation no pressure unless in use is a great safety deal

We have two 100 gallon galvanized diesel tanks mounted to 16’ trailers we keep at our property. If it smells like turpentine we use it to kill ants and start fires.

You having issues w any combustion of the diesel thru pressure? If not I don't doubt you creditials if it came off that way. Gasoline like milk has a sell by date. .you ever had dehydrated milk? I did in Canada on 1977 or around there. Putting 45 million cars on the grid in 10 years is gonna down the system. Unless we can reach about 40% capacity. I'll drive combustion engines til I die.

We run a small 2014 kabota 3901 only issue I’ve had is white smoke and sputerring. Usually time to drain the tank and add sea foam because the fuels separated.

I was gonna say. Drop a 1/4can of seafoam per tank and it converts the h2o to ether or something similar iir. Yall good. IF you wanna dig a pit and prepare dm.

Will do ....can galvanized go in the ground or would it need to be a stainless tank...or maybe lined. I sell industrial insulation and have access to an asphalt lagging material we use to lagg insulation goin underground

The galvanized issue if health is whether you truck likes too 2.25 million miles and 2.234millilion miles
There are very slow chemical reactions that are mostly negotiable.
I'm nit talking about som e retard in East plaistine

it has more to do with separation of ethanol in the fuel. "TRUFuel" says good for 3 years I think, but It has no ethanol. I have tested "non ethanol" at some spots and they do in fact have ethanol.

I can expalin how to separate the two if you want.
