• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Every time someone tells me they are buying an electric car. I look at my iphone batter health and

see that the lithium battery maximum capacity is down to 83% and it is just a couple of years old.

How pissed will you be as the maximum amount you can charge you electric vehicle keeps dropping and dropping.

How much does it cost to replace the batteries?

Depends. If I spend less on the replacement batteries than i would say buying a new alternator or whatever may go wrong with a gas engine, i wouldn't be that pissed.

My parents have a prius (i know, i know) that my dad bought about 10-12 years ago. Its pretty much just kept on the farm now as a back up car. I remember the batteries and replacement being a topic of conversation when the car was bought, but there have never been any problems with the batteries at all. I would be interested in hearing what the average users experience is with teslas and other electric vehicles.
