• Pat Flood (@rebarcock) passed away 9/21/25. Pat played a huge role in encouraging the devolopmemt of this site and donated the very first dollar to get it started. Check the thread at the top of the board for the obituary and please feel free to pay your respects there. I am going to get all the content from that thread over to his family so they can see how many people really cared for Pat outside of what they ever knew. Pat loved to tell stories and always wanted everyone else to tell stories. I think a great way we can honor Pat is to tell a story in his thread (also pinned at the top of the board).

Is it better to get zero percent interest for 6 or 12mo on a large transaction

Or the 1% 2% cash back most cards give

It's too early for me to do math

If you can’t pay the large transaction off immediately when the statement is due, you need to go zero percent interest
its a home project, few thousand. i can pay it off at the end of the month and get 1% cash back

but i also can put it on paypal credit and get no interest for 12mo

Ideally, sign up for a new card that gives you a bonus when you spend a couple thousand, and then pay it off at the end of the month

Before covid we traveled a lot. We use Marriott cards. There’s a ton of higher end resorts/hotels under that umbrella. We’ve stayed at multiple Ritz properties for less than $100 per night, get the concierge lounges, & free breakfast. Hell, we’ve been to French Leave in Eleuthera 3 times for less than $100/ night.

With that said you have to be someone who travels a lot & pay it off monthly to really enjoy it.
