Our university system is as fucked up as our healthcare. Legitimately everything the federal government has stuck its hands in has been a disaster since WW2. The feds make shit needlessly complex, inefficient, and about 3x as expensive. I don’t care if it’s Vietnam, Afghanistan, healthcare, war on drugs, war on poverty, mortgages, war on terror, education loans, grants, etc etc etc. It’s an dated, incompetent, meandering institution, much like Biden. The federal government itself needs massive reforms right now and the fact they even float the idea that they can just make the loans go poof and somehow “fix” things is another stupid idea in a long line of dumb fuck federal government ideas.

Equally dumb idea. Our retard government has a rigidity that is inflexible and illogical. No mention of reforming the university systems themselves that have campuses that are too large that they overpaid for and professors that have some of the highest part time paying jobs in the world.

Education is the embodiment of everything wrong right now. Basic problems are a dying industrial class of workers and an over engineered overarching federal government system. You’ve got a huge class of workers in this country that have seen their work shipped over seas, they’ve seen their retirements destroyed, they’ve been told everything they value is full of shit. Ohhh and by the way their kids can’t afford education and have zero opportunity going forward because institutions like universities jack tuition up, force them to take the equivalent of a home mortgage in debt (assuming they are even the right color) all to allow their professors to shit on everything this country stands for and work part time. And you are an asshole for questioning them, you racist piece of shit.

If we’re going to avoid serious instability in this country, the first thing to be reformed has to be education.

They need more transparency, offer a menu of classes in addition to a degree, get rid of the concept of “graduation,” smaller campuses, broader online offerings, and allow interest rates to fluctuate based on degree.

If some jobs require a full degree worth of courses in everything from liberal arts to hard sciences, so be it. If other jobs just need you to take a few accounting courses, great. University degree selection is archaic as a cable company making you buy a package of channels, of which 90% you don’t watch.
