Much as I enjoy RLM's content, they both seem oblivious to Anyonne But You recently becoming a word-of-mouth, sleeper hit at the box office. s?Something that(If the trailer is anything to go by) Alien:Romulus could also potentially pull off

Hollywood has a strong capacity to attract theatergoers back into the multiplexes... IF they rediscover that simply delievering basic, visceral thrills(Romance, Horror)are a reliable way to satisfy billions of cinema goers around the globe

I dunno aye, RLM just seem to be typical vacuous talking heads who enjoy virtue signaling their pov on whatever pop cult garbage is currently trending.

The 'Anyone but You' movie definitely doesn't appeal to me personally as the unoriginal Shakespearian based plot is just lame af. If some or many people like it, that's great, I'm happy for them.

While the 'Alien: Romulus' movie does appeal to me but only due to my childhood fondness for the original 'Alien' & 'Aliens' movies as well as the original disregarded 'Alien 3' script...😎 which is fuckin' sick and would've been an incredible movie.

Alas I anticipate 'Alien: Romulus' will be about as generic as 'Prometheus' & 'Alien: Covenant' were...and barely a little better than all the other highly polished Hollyweirdo turdburgers.... the sole purpose of which is harvesting cash from the bedazzled masses.

Hollywood has a strong capacity to attract theatergoers back into the multiplexes... IF they rediscover that simply delievering basic, visceral thrills(Romance, Horror)are a reliable way to satisfy billions of cinema goers around the globe
Course they have a strong capacity for attracting the gullible self-gratification addicted dumbasses.
It is Hollyweirds primary purpose innit....as it is with the gaming, sports, news, and most other predominant profiteering industries.

There's an Audio drama adaption on YT of William Gibson's original "Lost script" for 'Alien III'.

Plus Dark Horse Comics also published a comic adaption back in '19.

Gibson's script is pretty fuckin' solid all round and still has massive box office potential—if ever done right.

Here's a brief overview:

I searched YouTube for that audio drama, and couldn't find it. Be so kind to provide a link if you have one, Fiend

Just had a look-(*for the Audio drama version*), and yeah nah I dunno aye. It isn't showing up for me either.

Only other one I could find is an *Audiobook version.
Problem is, its got a rather monotonous artificial female voice which imo kinda makes it painful to listen.

*[The Audiobook version]

*Note: Its been a few years since I last listened, and there were also several other really good 'Alien' universe audio dramas as well, that now appear to have vanished from YT too. 🤔 Not sure why they'd be removed, so I'm wondering if maybe they've been pay walled or something.

OK. I'll search cyberspace more generally for this one. I'm sure it's available somewhere

If's for Hollywood right now are very iffy... Bob Iger has said 3 times that they are going to focus more on family friendly and quality content... and then the Acolyte comes out and it's the gayest and lamest thing Disney has done to date.

There are only about 4 movies that could really do well at the box office. Cost are up for theaters too. They can't get by on a bunch of $100million movies. They need several movies to get close to a billion $$$ or their new business model doesn't work. This is going to pivotal year for the theaters. I could see 1/6 of US theaters going out of business by next summer.

The Regal Cinema near me finally lowered it's price of admission, even during the evenings. My little bro and I went to see "In A Violent Nature" last evening, and paid $15 plus change for both of us, whereas in the not too distant past a SINGLE ticket on most days was nearly $20

Yeah though, I won't be surprised to see many theaters among The Big 2 (Regal and AMC)shutter, given the fact that many are still charging exorbitant prices, while smaller chains(Movie Tavern, NGC)persist and even prosper*. And as you said, Tinseltown is going to have to start producing movies people want to see again

*These smaller chains have become innovative, by regularly screening B Movies, Classic Films, and Cult Movies, subsequently packing their auditoriums on a nightly basis. Several folks in the comments section of RLM shared stories of such things

Yep. I think there are around 6000 theaters in the US if I remember right. So was saying we probably see about 1000 close the next 12ish months. Theaters split about 55/45 on box office with movie producer. I saw where the national avg a week or 2 ago showed about $2800 avg per theater for the week. That means the avg theater only got $1400 revenue for the week. That number is shockingly bad. There are tiny bars that couldn't get bye on $1400 per week.

Regal and AMC are almost certainly going to have to downsize even further. Frankly, even without COVID or Hollywood genuflecting to activists, this probably still would have been a necessity... The advent of streaming was going to create a shake up in the theater biz

Smaller chains like Movie Tavern and NCG will likely persist, if not thrive
