I am pretty sure that the railroad companies are responsible for the tracks, not the government. And the police are just local idiots who represent the average idiot fairly well.

Sure the fact a derailment happened is bad, but their handling of this just made it worse.

You don't blow up hazardous chemicals! Whose dumb idea was this?

They should have brought in some chemists and asked them what to do. Maybe they could have cleaned it up a better way? Maybe there are chemicals they could use to render the vinyl chloride inert? That's something chemists do in lab work. When they work with a dangerous substance they render it inert at the end of the lab so they aren't cleaning up dangerous chemicals after they're done.

I live in Fitswell County. Right around Dalton. That train derailed right by my grandpa's house. He was the 1st Irish to introduce hillbilly heroin to Dayton. I still use his maps to dig up money in those flat areas of Ohio. I say that I'm Bigfoot hunting. Lol
