Yeah there's some old cable out there for sure. I was more stating manufacturers recommendation without cable cure injections. I've been to some good hurricanes Rita, Ike, Wilma, I much prefer storm restoration in the south as opposed to the north east. A bunch of A$$holes in the north east.

Putting the grid undergound is about 4x the cost of overhead and the cable only lasts for 15-20 years then needs to be replaced. Overhead wire if sized correctly for ampacity will last 80-100 years. Wood poles will last 50-75 years.
